Schuhtick - Shoespleen. Of cold feet and hot soles.

We wear them on a daily basis. They protect and decorate us. And they show where and how we live and who we are: shoes!

But when did mankind make up shoes and how did they improve them over thousands of years? What do medieval poulaines have in common with the virility of its wearer? And why did Elvis Presley sing about blue suede shoes?

The international special exhibition "Shoespleen. Of cold feet and hot soles" answers these and many other exciting questions.

From the first foot guard of mankind via Roman military sandals to designer shoes, the exhibition tells about shoe stories through all the ages and beyond the continents.

The exhibition presents over 400 exhibits that are partly seen in public for the first time ever. You cannot only take a look at shoes, you can also "experience" them: Try walking with medieval pattens or high heels on the catwalk or listen to songs across the rock and pop history at the "shoebar".

Opened daily from 10 - 18h at the Übersee-Museum Bremen, Bahnhofsplatz 13, D - 28195 Bremen
